|
In today’s changing environment, individuals frequently find the need to update or obtain new skills in specific areas. A certificate of proficiency is a great way to enhance your résumé by highlighting particular accomplishments in your major discipline and to obtain the added bonus needed in today’s competitive job market. Certificate programs are appropriate for persons who have already earned a college degree and seek knowledge in a specific area or for those who seek skills in certain limited areas and do not wish to participate in a full degree program.
The Brian Tracy College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers a number of certificate programs to help students quickly gain skills for current or potential employment or acquire specialized training for an urgent career objective. These programs are designed to give students credentials along the way to a higher degree and every credit earned in these programs can be applied toward an associate’s or a bachelor’s degree.* Certificate programs are offered in a wide range of timely, high-demand specializations which provide an option for students to gain expertise in specific areas of study. Providing in-depth content of specific areas and allowing learners to gain concentrated knowledge which they can apply immediately, these programs are ideal for students who want to prepare for advancement in a current job, switch to a new career field, or earn a valuable credential on the way to a degree.
If a certificate program does not meet your needs, you may apply to the university as a non-degree seeking student and, once accepted, select courses that most interest you.
*Each certificate program requires completion of twelve (12) semester hours of coursework. Andrew Jackson University coursework completed to meet the requirements of a previously-awarded certificate may be applied toward any other certificate. However, no more than 50% of the certificate program can be earned through transfer credit, credit-by-examination, educational credit for training programs, or educational experiences in the Armed Services. Credit awarded for experiential learning is not applicable to a certificate program.
In order to be issued a certificate, a student must attain a minimum 2.0 grade-point average in all classes, fulfill all financial obligations, and submit a certificate request. Any certificates which are awarded will be noted on a student’s transcript. Certificate students are not eligible to participate in commencement exercises unless a degree has also been earned. It is not necessary to be admitted to a degree program in order to complete a certificate, and the admission procedures for the certificate programs are streamlined and brief. However, students who have been admitted to a degree program are not required to apply separately for admission to a certificate program. Undergraduate students may apply to receive a certificate at any time when the specific requirements have been met. |
